New racetrack is coming to Bremerton. Circuit of the Northwest officially broke ground.
It has a 2.66 mile Hermann Tilke designed roadcourse with a 1 mile straight and plenty of elevation. It will also have the regular go-karts and motocross tracks. This will supposedly be FIA/FIM approved so it might be able to attract national events to the region for once.
It looks like it will be a country club type motorsports club, so hopefully they can get enough rich people to sign up. I don’t think it will be a problem with Seattle a ferry ride away. But the more racetracks the merrier.
It will be interesting to see how many events this will pull from “The Ridge” nearby. Also the Pacific Raceways in Kent is looking at substantial upgrades to their facilities.
As tracks across the nation have been shuttered in the last decade, It’s good to see the PNW investing in them.

Neat! looks a little more high speed than I generally like for a car track, but I bet It would be fun as hell on a bike.

Pretty much any new track is made for modern 400+ HP cars. It’s good that there is a ton of runoff on this design. I’m hoping there will be more affordable events at the ridge as this will track will pull the premium events. I also love bike trackdays to yay!

This is one of the reasons I like ORP so much, it’s like a big autocross! Super tight and technical. The R idge is a close second though

For sure! TBH the only “bad” track in the northwest is PIR. There’s just not that much going for it besides it proximity to the city.

It’d be interesting to take the fintail on this.

That i s true and its all just made from pieces of his other tracks, but safe and boring is pretty much the only way to get FIA/FIM approval and corporate sponsorship for a new track. New tracks are designed with high HP cars and country club drivers in mind.

S uper cool - but not sure how successful they are going to be drawing crowds way out there.

Get rid of the chicane.

One question; Open air or enclosed building gun range with what appears to be a backstop followed by the karting track? Given the tame and safe track design discussion I’m almost wondering if this is a dry firing laser range or other variety of projectile free “shooting.”

I believe it is indoors/underground.

It appears the brown section is optional routes so it looks like they could depending on the event.

That would make perfect sense in this situation. Thank you.

They may have trouble with spectators for major events, but for drivers it is just a ferry ride from Seattle or Edmonds-Kingston. Not a whole lot of places to put racetracks out here.

Without the chicane it bears a resemblance to COTA.

Same designer so similar track, he is criticized for building the same tracks over and over

Yup. Which is why the greatest tracks are still, by and large, the oldest ones. I would say though, that he got it right with COTA. What he did to Hockenheim, though, is a crime against humanity.

Fintails were very successful in competition back in the day. I wonder with the soft stock suspension in my car, if I could get it up on two wheels.
